Our annual preview Uefa Champions League 2012/2013, which team will be the last team standing?

Group A

Porto

Dynamo Kiev

Paris Saint-Germain

Dinamo Zagreb

Of course, a dream draw for PSG, even if PSG pieces have fallen into place yet, the team is far the strongest team on paper. Behind them? Dynamo Kiev have bought both interesting and established this season (Veloso, Kranjcar, Raffael, Marco Ruben), while Porto’s season will be defined by whether they have the strength to keep Hulk and Moutinho until the transfer window has closed.

Advancement: PSG and Porto.

Group B

Arsenal

Schalke 04

Olympiakos

Montpellier

Nowadays, one of the safest autumn signs is that Arsenal and Olympiakos raffled against each other in the Champions League. This will be the third time in four years they play against each other. The Greeks welcome Schalke-center-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos home to Karaiskakis, while Olivier Giroud course going back to Montpellier. And the end? Well, Schalke 04 – with borrowed Ibrahim Affelay from Barcelona – should get the second place. Both Olympiakos and Montpellier are weaker than they were last season.

Advancement: Arsenal and Schalke 04

Grupp C

Milan

Zenit St Petersburg

Anderlecht

Malaga

It could have been a lot worse for AC Milan, who despite all summer woes now still should be able to fuss through the group. I certainly believe that ambitious Zenit St. Petersburg is actually the group’s strongest team. But behind them? Malaga’s efforts have, unfortunately imploded during the summer, and an inexperienced Anderlechthad everything cut out in the world to complicate past AEL Limassol in the final qualifying round. Milan are still a number greater than their group opponents.

Advancement: Zenit St Petersburg and Milan

Grupp D

Real Madrid

Manchester City

Ajax

Borussia Dortmund

Undeniably the thoughest group this fall, consisting of four clubs who actually won their respective leagues. With that said, I can not see any other outcome than Real Madrid and Manchester City advancing. The potential challenger could be Borussia Dortmund who have strong team. Ajax will try to enjoy the trip, but will obviously still cursing the fact that they are confronted with a task that is practically impossible.

Advancement: Real Madrid and Manchester City.
